NLP and Hypnotherapy Practitioner level Diploma
Things you should know: We do not differentiate between NLP and hypnosis – teaching the two as a single unit. Acceptance on to our therapy courses is by interview and interview alone, but don’t panic, this is a highly informal process. It doesn't matter who you are or what you have or haven't done; we don't care if you have six degrees or have never attended school in your life. Einstein, among a number of other geniuses, was thrown out of school. We have our own criteria and decide who we will or will not teach based on these alone. We have no prejudices; we don't even care what planet you are from as long as you satisfy us, in fact, a few extra terrestrials might just spice things up a bit! To us, the whole reason for a therapist to exist is to help their client, and not as many seem to think, to score points or prove that this system is better than that one. We have a simpler point of view which is that the more tools and resources you have, the more flexile you can be and the better your chances of helping incorporate what we consider the most useful and effective tools we have encountered from the entire field of the study of the mind.
A syllabus and comprehensive reading list will be made available at the interview. Now, you may notice that there is a very specific therapeutic emphaisis on the practitioner courses. They are primarily structured and oriented towards doing therapy there is a very good reason for this orientation, and it goes like this;
To hit someone is easy. To be martial artist is harder – to be a great martial artist, first you must learn how the human body and mind work – There is nothing special about going around breaking things if you cant put them back together, every child can express anger and violence – Discipline, control, Compassion? Understaning? Compromise? These take something more; so does healing.
There are many applications for NLP, for Hypnosis and psychology, from advertising to sales and also healing. I Believe that No matter which of these you wish to follow, if you really want to be good, learn how the mind and body work – how to take them apart, how to put them together and how to fix them.
INTRODUCTION: NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming has been variously defined - as "Modelling Excellence", as "the Study of the Structure of Subjective Experience", as many things. All of this is true, and a lot more besides. You could say it is the study of the operating system and sub routines of the human computer – I rather like that definition, because it leaves what you do with it very much up to the individual. You could also say that to a large extent, it is hypnosis re packaged, and that is also true. Dr. Richard Bandler said:
NOW The crucial element here, and it something that virtually all the so called schools of NLP have a tendency to disregard, is that section of Richard’s words stating that the structure of all behaviour can be “modelled, learned, taught and changed” Teaching people to use the patterns developed by Bandler and others is not teaching them NLP-it is teaching people to replay a learned pattern and just substitute different content. That’s not NLP and never will be. If you want to learn and understand NLP, learn and understand HOW to understand, learn, model, install and create the “structures of behaviour”. Also, learn and understand hypnosis, because Half of NLP IS Hypnotic language - Hypnosis. The core of all our courses incorporates a thorough knowledge and understanding of BOTH these incredible tools. To make life easier, we have included two introductions here. There is the short version, and the long one. The long one contains stuff that is not in the short one and the short one contains suggestions that are not in the long one. Now you may be wondering whether to read the short one or the long one and if you are in a real hurry to get to the details, you might read only the short one. Personally, I would read both of them because there is always something new to learn....
THE SHORT VERSION: This school aims to be a bit different. Weather you simply want to become an exquisite human being - to be all that you can be, or join up to become a therapist, a salesperson, or to enhance your career or just to learn something new and see where it takes you, our approach is that we deal in what works. We believe in making and using powerful, effective tools that work and we have drawn together aspects of many approaches in order to get the best of all of them, and indeed the sum of the parts IS greater than the whole Psychology, Psychiatry, psychotherapy, Hypnosis and NLP are all about the human mind, how it works and how it communicates. Whatever you do in life you are dealing with humans somewhere in what you do. As long as you are dealing with humans you must communicate and anytime you are communicating, YOU CAN DO IT BETTER and you can feel better about it. You may not want to do what Derren brown or Paul McKenna do; you may not want to help people get over their problems, but whatever you want to do, with a little imagination, you will see that you can find a use for that kind of skill in your chosen career.
THE LONG VERSION: As you sit reading this and as you go through life, there are things that you would like more of; there are things that you would like to be able to do better, and probably things you would rather change. Now it may be that you have not yet considered the fact that the way we communicate and the way we think are connected so closely together that they are effectively inseparable and having considered this before or not, as you think of it now you may wonder why this is so important. As Connirae Andreas said: "whenever your mouth is open, words may be coming out", and even when its not, you are thinking. Has anyone ever taught you how to think or how to communicate with yourself and others in a way that has more impact, more persuasive, convincing power than you have ever thought was possible? I doubt it And i know, as you site there, there are things in your life you might like to change things you want more of, like money, friendship, love, success n your chosen path and things you want less of, like stress, worry, personal problems, weight etc. If any of this rings a bell, as you see how this might apply to you, if you feel you might like to get a grip on things as you read this, read on. Before fire; before caves; before we even came down from the trees, we communicated. It may not have been language as such, but it was communication - In one form or another, communication has existed as long as consciousness, making it arguably the oldest science there is.
Hypnosis is the art and science of communication; blending the creative power and beauty of words with accuracy and precision of computer science and the dynamics of cutting edge physics.
When you smile; when you frown; when you make a rude sign or say "Good Morning"; you influence the state of awareness of another person. When you alter someone's state of awareness, you are engaging in hypnosis. Everyone does it all the time. Whenever your mouth is open, words may be coming out. It is your choice as to how effective those words may be and it is yours to choose whether or not you want to know how much others are influencing you. To give an example, it is quite likely that you have seen or heard of Derran Brown; you may note that he does not so much tell people to do things as tell you what they are going to do. He is a superbly skilled artist. Much of what he does is based on the same tools as our courses. Among other things, He uses a combination of NLP* and hypnosis, and he does it well. The range and diversity of applications for these tools is truly limited only by your own imagination. We do not teach anyone to manipulate cards the way he does, or to be a performer; we certainly don't advocate Russian Roulette, but we teach you to shape the tools of influence and persuasion; to look and listen and recognise the thought processes and to an extent the thoughts that a person is having. These are powerful tools for helping and healing; they are also tools for life. If you are alive, you are thinking. You are seeing, hearing and feeling. So are those around you. You can live by reacting to those around you, or you can be the cause of action in others. Its a basic choice, and it is yours to make. I know what I chose.... The The Just to keep things relatively clear from the outset, NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming - the creation of the genius of Dr Richard Bandler, and John Grinder and associates, Can be said to be the flip side of Hypnosis, in that it is based on and around the communication process, both internal and external. However, NLP is far more than simply another aspect of hypnosis. It is an incredibly powerful and effective science in it's own right, and it would be remiss of me to continue without pointing this out. NLP is the study of the structure of subjective experience - it is the study of human excellence and of the structure and process of human thought and experience in such a manner as to facilitate the modelling, transfer and subsequent replication of any desired aspect or process demonstrated by a human mind. By creating this set of tools, Richard and his friends turned the therapy world on it's head to an even greater extent than Milton Erickson because, among other things, for the first time NLP made it possible to fully understand and teach the skills of Milton Erickson, Gregory Bateson, Virginia Satir, Moshe Feldenkrais and others in a manner and depth that even they themselves could not achieve. Richard made it possible to study and to teach the intangible magick that was the genius of these people and others. A human bieng is the sum of many parts - both physical and mental; as for the Spirit? well, that’s arguable, but certainly mind and body, both of which are made of many parts, not just mechanical but mental also - for example, theres the part that likes to learn and the part that likes to party. ALL these parts, working together create a whole far greater than the sum of the parts. Few people would disagree with that. In the same way, Our courses incorporate a union - a Synergy of different techniques and approaches, each working in unison with the others to produce something greater. You may read the list below and wonder how we are planning to fit all of this into 24 weekends. Just remember, this is a course on hypnosis and NLP – central to both of these is the manipulation of time. “Sometimes, the days just fly by” and other times, ten minutes can seem like a hundred years. Usually, people tend to do this the wrong way around and things that we dislike seem to take ages, while things we enjoy [like holidays or sex], are over much too soon. We intend this to be one of the best courses available in this time scale and it is our intention that on successful completion of the course, students will have a competent and elegant set of skills.
An introduction to and incorporation of the ideas and approaches proposed by some of the major influences in the field of psychology and psychotherapy, focussing primarily on those listed below. We are very selective about the people we will accept for these courses. Our criteria are our own and have little or nothing to do with so called formal education. You will find that our teaching methods also have little to do with formal education - It is our aim to be much more fun, much less stuffy and far more educational. REMEMBER - Einstein was thrown out of school as being hopeless. When he got going he turned all the academics on their heads and kicked their backsides right round the planet. We DO NOT supply a syllabus to anyone unless they have attended and passed our interviews. There are two reasons for this - firstly, it has taken a number of years combined with much blood, sweat and tears to put this together; we are not about to give it away to other schools now. Secondly, we are looking for acertain kind of person. The idea of these courses is that they should be fun, but we want people who genuinely want to make a difference.
